Ocean freedom was fantastic, highly recommend! The staff were all super friendly, funny, helpful, and made the trip very enjoyable. We went for 2 intro scuba diving sessions, which we've never done before, and it was an amazing experience.

Wonderful day out—the crew *made* the experience. Reef itself was less vibrant than I expected, probably due to coral bleaching. There were loads of beautiful, colourful fish and we even saw a turtle and a cuttlefish! The crew very sociable, knowledgeable and helpful. I even got to help hoist the sail!

Great trip to the Great Barrier Reef!!The entire crew is amazingly knowledgeable, extremely peasant and fun to deal with, very , very attentive and helpful to ALL passengers!Breakfast and afternoon snacks and drinks were excellent, lunch was OK.The snorkeling experience was excellent!!Very grateful for the experience.

had an absolutely fabulous time with the crew on Ocean Free. they were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. our trip out to the Great Barrier Reef and Green Island was absolutely magical. we didn’t scuba dive but the snorkeling experience was amazing. we saw many types of marine life and were educated by the crew every step of the way. it felt like an intimate experience with less than 20 people on the boat. would recommend to anyone who wants to explore the Great Barrier Reef.

Amazing! Have done the cheaper ones before where you’re packed on and everything is rushed and you have 80 people swimming in this tiny space. Ocean Free was so much better. The staff were amazing, great food, relaxing boat, awesome location on the reef with plenty of options to cater for everyone. My two kids boy/8 and girl/15 both said it was the best day they’ve ever had on one of our regular trips up to Cairns. Thank you to the Ocean Free crew!

Ocean Free was the highlight of our trip, the staff were incredible and made it super fun. T was an amazing Dive Guide and since I was the only one who signed up we got to explore a lot. Saw so many turtles and sharks and the reef was just thriving. Went to the island and wanted to immediately go back in the boat to jump off, snorkel and float with some bevies- Thanks for keeping the wine and ginger beer flowing. Pascal and the girls did a great job skippering (I’m making that a word), hosting the day, and the food offerings were above and beyond. Thanks guys for an incredible experience -The Canadians

I went for a day out on ocean freedom and did 2 dives as a certified diver. I hadn’t dived for 10 years so was a little nervous but the crew were great, I had a small group of 3 and a fantastic time! I’m so glad I booked with this company, and I would definitely recommend.

I was on the ocean freedom boat today for some snorkeling and my first diving. It was absolutely great ! I saw so many fish and corals, even a stinray and a turtle !!!All the staff is amazing, wow ! Such a wonderful experience with Ocean Freedom tours and crew. As first timer they made everything super easy and smooth with heaps of fun! This was such an amazing trip I’m struggling to find enough vocab to describe it. From the moment we booked to boarding the yacht, sailing out to the reef (breakfast on route) then getting a couple of hours snorkelling in before lunch. The weather was perfect on Monday 2nd September. Visibility was stunning. We chose the assisted dive. Glad we did. Swimming with a turtle 5m beneath the surface is other worldly. We had a brief excursion to Green Island and sat on the beach enjoying the sun for about an hour - but soon decided we’d catch the next tender back to the dive boat and carry on snorkelling. When it was finally time to weigh anchor and hoist the sales for the return to Cairns the crew brought us wine and cheese for the journey home. A totally unforgettable experience. Perfectly planned by a company who really know how to look after people. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Ocean free provided a wonderful snorkel and first dive experience - our dive instructor Molly was extremely patient and calming as we got underwater and made sure we saw lots of interesting reef life while down. The food was decent and definitely more than enough to satiate after swimming. Even though we went on a low wind day they still cut the engine and hoisted the sail for a bit to get that lovely connection with the wind and the waves. All of the team are knowledgeable and friendly, couldn’t have spent a better day in Cairns!

We had the best experience with these guys last week. Really looked after us, great snorkelling and saw lots of fish, reef shark and a turtle. Group size was 14 so such a nice small number and great vibe provided by the staff. I would highly recommend a day on the water with Ocean Free.

Vor allem die äußerst kompetente und freundliche, hilfsbereite Durchführung und Begleitung während der Tour durch die gesamte Besatzung haben uns sehr imponiert und uns einen unvergesslichen, auch lehrreichen Urlaubstag beschert. Hicimos un tour con ellos al Outer Reef y la experiencia fue genial. El barco es amplio, estable y cómodo, tienen crema solar, pastillas antimareo, te dan desayuno, comida, merienda.. Pudimos hacer snorkel en dos lugares diferentes y ver un montón de corales y peces. El tour está montado de manera que pasas mucho rato en el agua si quieres y también puedes ver los corales desde un barquito con fondo de cristal. Había muchos monitores en el barco asegurándose que todo iba bien y fueron super pacientes y amables con la gente que se sentía insegura en el agua, especialmente con los niños. Recomendable al 100%!

Four of us booked the Ocean Freedom Tour. It was such a brilliant trip. Felt like it was super safe and organised.I was a bit apprehensive to snorkel as I’ve only done it once and didn’t love it, but this was my favourite part of the trip. I spent so long in the water! The staff were excellent at showing you the animals. Molly was a real MVP interacting with guests and pointing out animals under the water!It’s great for beginner snorklers as you are close enough to boat, but can also go off and do your own snorkelling within permitted areas. You are free to get in and off the boat as much as you want.One of the best trips I’ve done to date and want to do it again!Also, if you can eat everything onboard ( no dietary requirements) there’s more than enough food!One thing I’d say, is that when the top deck was closed - it felt like there were just a few too many people to sit. This was only an issue during going out and coming back as groups were split off. Didn’t spoil my trip.Thanks so much everyone.

Ich habe beide Bootsfahrten gebucht und es stellte sich heraus dass es die richtige Entscheidung war! Man bekommt für den Preis ein unvergessliches, atemberaubendes Erlebnis geboten. Die Crew war bei beiden Fahrten sehr zuvorkommend und hatte einen guten Sinn für Humor. Außerdem bekam man regelmäßig Essen angeboten welches mundete. Man hat mehrere Stunden um den Great Barrier Reef zu erkunden und die fabelhafte Unterwasserwelt auf sich wirken zu lassen. Dabei verspürt man immer ein Gefühl von Sicherheit aufgrund des liebevollem und achtsamen Team. Die beiden Ausflüge werde ich für immer im positiven in Erinnerung behalten.

Had the best time exploring the GBR! I had one dive with a different company previously, but I had a much better discovery diving experience this time. I felt safe and the sites we saw were amazing. Mooie grote boot, zeer vriendelijk personeel. Hele mooie snorkelmomenten onder begeleiding zodat je niets mist. We hebben gelopen op een mini eilandje en naast de vissen en het mooie koraal ook nog een schildpad en een tijgerhaai gezien. Zeer uitgebreide lunch met heel veel keuze en voor mij een heerlijk vegan gerecht. Wetsuit en snorkel/duikbril zijn van goede kwaliteit.

We joined the sailing tour to the reef and green island. The strong wind (25+ knts) and waves of almost 3 meters during the trip to green island made the trip really exciting and wet, but we all felt safe in the good hands of Jan and his team. Snorkling and diving was beautiful and the visit to green island is special as well. Thanks for the beautiful day and good care with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon drink and the good atmosphere! I had the best time with this team when I went with them back in June, everyone is super friendly and are supportive even when I was panicking before my introductory dive Kelly was absolutely amazing at calming me down😅Not to mention the amazing Yaya who went above and beyond to support my nerves under the water! The Great Barrier Reef up close and personal is something else and not to be missed if you are in cairns.The service was incredible on this boat from start to finish not to mention the amazing food and snacks and the relaxed feel it had! Not a crowded boat and very clean, would 100% go back with these guys in the future☺️

Fantastic experience!!! Would highly recommend!!We were on Ocean Free, which is the sailboat. Pascal, Molly, Mike, and Amber — were all phenomenal! They were patient with first time swimmers and snorkelers, and had helpful and fun/dynamic personalities. They get along and had fun doing it.It’s a whole day experience, starting out around 0700 getting back around 1700. Wetsuits and gear are included along with small breakfast and a solid lunch. Takes ~1.5 hrs to get to the reef spot they have, you have a good 1-1.5hrs in the mid morning, then lunch and a short time on Green Island. We headed back from the island early to get another swim in and Mike helped my wife, she’s a new swimmer and hadn’t ever swam in the ocean. They know the spot they go to and all the reef animals, will dive to show you things.We didn’t scuba, but no prior certification is needed, they teach you there on the spot (need to sign waiver of medical health). All gear was well cleaned, don’t worry about that.Wine and snacks on the way back.As said upfront, very highly recommended — they are excellent! Would go with them again, no hesitation. Next time will try scuba diving. :)

I went scuba diving with my two kids our instructors Alexia and Tiga where great they where both very experienced and made the dive very safe and fun. We saw turtles catfish and lots of other strange coloured fish. From the start to finish the trip was great the crew where very well organised, everyone on the boat knew what they where doing. and the the lunch was lovely we have traveled up the coast from Sydney and done lots of tours and my kids both told me this was their standout favourite thank you again Alexia & Tiga for a wonderful experience

Fantastic day for the family on ocean freedom. Staff were all to willing to help make the day special. Our boys (7 and 9) loved it and my wife and I each had a dive which were both epic. Food was great and coral was really good (especially on the dive)

Took two days out to the reef and did both Ocean Freedom (catamaran) and Ocean Free (sailboat). Great staff on both, However the sail boat was more personal with fewer passengers, while the catamaran went to a 'better' snorkeling location. Did the intro snorkel and the attendant made it so easy. Both tours provided a fine vegan meal (pre-made quinoa salad). The sail boat actually sailed for ~45mins back into harbor, which was quite enjoyable. Booked through Viator, no issues

Todays tour to the reef, was most enjoyable.Because the food was really good, cold meats, chicken drumsticks and prawns, with 4 different salads, bread, then fresh fruit, cheese n bikkies and cake, was only Michael (skipper) and his team, work so well together, they are professional, engaging, experienced and knowledgeable.It was an extremely enjoyable day.Thankyou.

Amazing overall experience. We took the ocean free green island and great barrier reef tour with skipper Mike and crew T and YaYa. The boat could hold a max of 25 people but had around 12 aboard. The smaller sailing boat felt like a more personalized experience with the crew and was much more enjoyable because of it. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about reef and friendly throughout the day. Safety instructions were also made clear. The lunch and snacks served aboard were also very fresh. Snorkeling was a great experience and we saw turtles, rays, and more species of fish than I could count. Sailing causes the boat to tilt with the wind but there are plenty of places to hold onto for safety. While the inner part of green island was not the cleanest, it had a beach with soft sand to relax on and the crew gave everyone the option to stay on the island for either 45min or 1.5 hr. We opted for the shorter time length and snorkeled a second time. Highly recommended and a very memorable experience.

Absolutely AMAZING experience!!! The boat and crew weee just absolutely lovely, kind, and willing to assist whenever needed. The Great Barrier Reef is amazing to see on its own but the Crew’s boosting enthusiasm and energy made the entire experience great!! I took the day trip "Ocean Freedom Cruise to Upolu Cay Reef & Outer Edge Upolu Reef" and I really enjoyed it!We left on time, received safety information, and had a light breakfast of coffee, tea, fruit and pastries. There was plenty of lunch and a fair bit of variety. A lot of pasta salads and seafood.I paid the additional fee to scuba dive. You can do so without your own scuba license, in which case you show the staff that you can perform some safety manouevers, and then tour the reef with them at your side. It was my first time scuba diving and I thought it was wonderful!Unfortunately, there was a passenger who had a medical issue on board. I was very impressed with the staff as they performed first aid. They had a lot of supplies and clearly knew how to use them.All in all, my impression was of a well-run business with competent staff and a beautiful reef.

This was an amazing experience! I signed up to do an intro scuba dive. After feeling a little sea-sick, I thought I was going to skip out on the dive and just snorkel. But thanks to the staff’s encouragement, I was able to do the dive later and even got to swim one on one with the instructor.I saw sharks, sea cucumbers, giant clams, and more! A special shoutout to Paul for being a figurative and literal lifeline the entire time. If he’s on board, you’re guaranteed to have a great time!

We would give 10 stars if we could. The day was amazing, and so well organised from booking online with phone support and easy checking in to great food on board, patient and helpful instructions and plenty of time to enjoy the reef. I did the intro dive and it was incredible! I felt so comfortable with Tia (?).. They even acknowledged our anniversary and made us feel very special!!Thanks for a great day!!There is ample parking nearby with a 10hr limit for about $2 per hour.

Great organisation, super friendly staf! It was our first time diving and we did two intro dives that took our breath away (figuratively ;) ). Great guidance by T, we were at ease right away. My parents snorkeled for the first time in their life (+-56j) and loved it as well! So much beautiful wild sealife in the reefs !

My wife and I went with Ocean Freedom last Saturday. The crew were all very friendly and attentive to the guests every need. They stressed safety and made everyone very comfortable, no matter what their swimming ability. For the non swimmers or apprehensive, they took people out with a life ring which was pulled by a guide who explained what they were seeing. Lunch was the best I’ve had on a snorkelling trip and there was lots of it, prawns, Loks, salads fruit, etc.. Head counts were done whenever snorkelling and diving was finished. Really great experience and would definitely go again with them!

Fantastic day out on the reef on Friday on Ocean Freedom. Family day for us with our daughter and her family up from Sydney.The weather that day wasn’t the best but Mike and his crew made it worth the trip. Really well looked after all day, diving, snorkeling and watching the giant trevally getting chased around by a friendly barracuda. Super day out for all.5 ⭐️’s

Yaya and the Mikes were amazing!
Very helpful and had confident answers for all our questions and issues. Beginner scuba class was easy to learn and even more enjoyable in the water.
Lots of fish, turtles and sharks on the dives - very knowledgeable.
Loads of time in the water and options to spend your time either on the island or half and half with more snorkle time.
Journey home and dance party topped off the trip. Will come back again with more friends next trip in the future.

I recently did a Reef tour down at Hamilton Island as my first on the GBR and had a great time.
A trip to Cairns (Palm Cove) meant another trip was due!
Ocean Freedom was recommended to us due to the smaller capacity and attention to detail by people at Palm Cove.
It was an amazing day out. A very full day, 2 reefs, well fed and normally I’d just do my own thing in the water, but opted for the glass bottom boat tour and guided snorkel while there and it was great. As little or as much time as you can handle in the water. Excellent reefs, Green Sea Turtles and Manta Rays were spotted by our family.
Highly recommended for your trip to the reef. Very kid friendly also and all provided equipment was top notch.

We had a wonderful experience sailing on the Ocean Free boat to Great Barrier Reef where we snorkelled and our daughter had her first experience diving. The diving instructor gave great instruction and had a genuine care for his clients and the skipper and crew were focused on giving us the best experience possible. would highly recommend.

We had the best day. The crew on board were fantastic. The spot they moored off Green Island was so close to the reef you could almost stand on it. Snorkeling and diving was brilliant. Lunch on board is very impressive. We met some lovely people from all over the world. Sailing back at under full sail with a lovely glass of wine was exhilarating and exciting. Thanks to all the staff and crew. You made the day for us so easy from booking to leaving. We didn’t want to leave.

We went on this reef cruise today and it was fantastic! The guides were incredible and the food was great- and there was loads of it! We went on a different snorkeling trip yesterday to Green Island and it was nothing compared to Ocean Freedom. The guides were in the water with us showing us all the fish and marine life. Definitely skip Green Island and go with Ocean Freedom!!!!

My wife, daughter and myself went out on Ocean Freedom on Wednesday 8 Feb 2023. A great day - the Captain and crew were unbelievably helpful and polite. Nothing was to much trouble. Once at the reef a guided glass bottom boat trip then onto with the snorkelling or SCUBA if you wanted. The food was high quality and heaps for everyone. When you thought it was over out came the cheese and biscuits followed by cake. I’ve been on a number of boat tours around the world and this is by far the best. It is highly recommend. Lastly a shout out to crewman Tom who was very patience with my wife and helped her snorkelling experience.

Perfect day out visiting two of the nearby reefs. The crew are extremely warm, welcoming and a great laugh helping you be at ease wether if it’s your first time snorkelling/diving or somebody used to the ocean. I did my first (and 2nd) ever scuba dive guided by these guys today and it couldn’t have been any better! Will definitely go with these guys again next time I find myself in Cairns. Thank you!

What a great value for money. We took the family tour and were lucky to be going on a quite day. First time diving for 2 of us was made comfortable by friendly staff. Crew was so helpful in making sure snorkelling at 2 different spots was a memorable experience of the reef.We swam with turtles,saw reef shark and plenty of beautiful fishes in the reef. Glassboat tour, Heaps of time in and on the water and food is served throughout the day. Highly highly recommended.

Personalised Service is only one of the many wonderful experiences we had at The Great Barrier Reef. The crew members were fantastic, giving out information were serious and funny 😆; food 🥘 is delectable 🤤 and the day was perfect . Absolutely recommend Perry and the team for a great day sailing. We enjoyed seeing some great snorkelling spots and loved the experience of sailing as opposed to sitting like sardines on a much bigger, sterile vessel. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and the food is a plenty! do it!!

Had an amazing day out at the Great Barrier Reef today and couldn’t have asked for a better crew Sophie taught us how to scuba and was absolutely amazing and understanding she made us comfortable and took it slow with us. Scott was a great skipper and the whole team was super friendly and funny. Made the whole experience very welcoming. We were able to stop at two areas today to explore what this beautiful place has to offer and lunch on the cruise, and snacks throughout the day. The crew also taught us about the wildlife and cool facts along the way. Would highly recommend these guys!

Just an amazing day on the reef with the crew of Ocean Freedom. So much fun and these guys are total professionals. Great saftey protocols with maximum fun the whole day. Our many snorkels were wonderful with great comentary and guidance if desired. All the crew were so knowledgeable about the reef and its inhabitants. Scuba dives with Lou & Rose were so good great guides and they were so caring fot all divers. Food was fabulous and there was plenty to go around. I was booked on this tour by my travel agent. I had found another cruise by decided to let the agent do the booking work for me. My tour was on 12th August. From the moment of checking in, I was treated like a VIP for a day. A joke of "permission to come aboard" at the pier started a relaxing day of cruising the reef, 2 introduction dives of scuba diving, snorkelling, great food, and even better, fantastic staff. I had not dived since 1987 and my instructor Jen took me through the process and I was both excited and nervous about entering the water. Jen made me completely at ease, and I loved every second of my two dives.

We just can't say enough about these guys! The crew were just BLOODY AWESOME! They took us to a place on the reef that wasn't heavily populated by other tour boats so we were spoilt for choice. We got to spend 6 hours in the water snorkelling. There were always guides with us showing us around and sharing information about the marine life around us. Glass bottom boat tours were included.
In between we were kept well fed and watered. Lunch was really good. Simple food, seafood, cold meats and salads but fresh and good quality👍 Morning and afternoon tea was also provided.
The boat wasn't overly packed out either. Plenty of room to move around. If you have 1, DEFINITELY bring a GoPro with you. I hung out with a green sea turtle for a good half an hour and wish I could've captured some of that experience.
An awesome laid back Nth QLD experience at its finest! We will be back again for sure!

I entirely enjoyed my day. The crew was amazing, so attentive and helpful. The captain Pascol ( hope I spelled his name right 😁) made sure we all were safe and can enjoy every moment of the day. Could not have a better day. The food-endless service and very lovely. Thank You all for making such a wonderful day for us.

of all the tour choices for seeing and experiencing the reef, we were somehow lucky enough to have found THE BEST! From beginning to end, the most professional crew , and pristine boat ( we were on the power cat). we had a personal dive master Yatti, who's expertise and direction made us feel safe and well looked after! Thanks heaps mate! Rosie led our guided snorkelling tour and was extremely knowledgeable about the reef, and pointed out all the highlights! Didn't miss a thing! The food aboard was top notch too.. 5 plus stars out of 5!! what a team!

Unforgettable Christmas Adventure !
We highly recommend the Ocean Freedom and their team. They strive to ensure your day is fantastic, safe and memorable. We had a wonderful experience on the introductory to scuba and appreciated the safe system in place to give first time scuba divers a trip of a lifetime. The passionate and enthusiastic crew made sure we had what we needed with gear and instruction. The onboard breakfast, lunch and snacks were delicious. Excellent Ozzie hospitality extended with passing the afternoon snacks around so no one missed out. We valued the lower number of passengers on board resulting in spectacular memories to last a lifetime. Many thanks for an absolutely awesome experience!!

What a wonderful day with this great team! I was not a confident snorkeller and mainly booked so my hubby could have his great barrier reef experience, but ended up getting involved and absolutely loving it! What a great experience!! What they tell you in their brochure is what you get for the full 100% and more! Paul gave us a briefing of the day which he did with a lot of humor. When we got to the reef we started off with the glass bottom boat. Lou was amazing she explained everything you needed to know about the reef. Doing this first was great because you knew what to expect. After that we jumped into the water for some snorkeling for more than 2 hours. We went on a snorkel tour with Mat which was great. He showed us everything we needed to see. After the tour you could explore the reef by yourself. When we got back on the boat a perfect lunch was prepared for us with prawns, smoked salmon, chicken and some nice salads. After lunch we headed off to another spot where we again snorkeled for about 2 hours. After this we cruised back to harbour with fruit and snack served. Overall.... it was an amazing day! One of the best dive crew I've been out with. Went for my honeymoon and then took my kids out with these guys. Exceptional if I times, the crew are amazing. Genuinely friendly, go out of their way to help and to chat with you and the boat (Ocean Free) makes for a perfect small size trip. I've seen reef sharks, turtles, rays and so many different species of fish on the beautiful reef out near Green Island with these guys, their divers really k ow the area well. They took my 7yo and 4yo out snorkelling too over the reef and they loved it! I'll be back again next year for sure.

First time diving and couldn’t have asked for better staff. Chris was patient and guided us past the nerves. We had a great time. Ben and Eva were fantastic. If you are looking for a smaller group tour and excellent service then go here. Also the food was fantastic. We had lunch, later we stopped for wine and cheese, and before returning we finished off with dessert. We definitely had an incredible experience. Highly recommended.

My friend and I took a snorkeling tour with them today and it was AWESOME! The staff were the BEST! They were very attentive to everyone’s level of snorkeling and diving! The worked very hard! The food they served was also amazing! They had coffee and pastries for breakfast, served lunch and it wasn’t sandwiches, served cheese and crackers throughout trip along with fruit, figs, deserts and whatever you water along with other drinks!! I would highly recommend them! You would be missing out on a great experience if you didn’t book with them! Thanks to all for a spectacular day!!

my mum and mines first experience and what an experience! staff so welcoming and made us feel at ease while both doing our scuba, we would of tested patience with our learning skills but we did not feel judged!! Fab day, and great instructors 😁 def recommend for newbies that want a small group!! PS the food was amazing too. What a day, thank you Ocean Free!

I've been trying to break my wife into scuba and needed to find a charter that would take good care of her. Ocean Free did not disappoint. For her first dive ever they took great care to make sure she felt confident in the water and that we all had an amazing experience. The crew was nothing short of exceptional and diving the reef was the experience of a lifetime. The excursion to Green Island and the crocodile park was a nice bonus for those less inclined to be in the water as well. Couldn't be happier.

Amazing amazing amazing the hi light of our Cairns visit Pasquale The skipper went to great lengths to make our trip memorable Chris entertained us with stories (ask him how far a 200klm lake is) and made us Dave Mathews fans. Pale (excuse the spelling if wrong) very knowledgeable helpful as well. This crew took great care of everyone especially those that didn’t take the tablets a huge thank you guys made this trip the most memorable one we have had, loved the sailing and the crew made the day as perfect as It could be

Great day out on the reef. Led by Captain Paul the team were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Snorkeling and diving available. Lunch was fabulous and I would through recommend them if you are contemplating a trip out to the reef.

We had a trip on Ocean Free out to the reef in short what an awesome experience it was, not to be missed. The size of the boat gave you a more personal feeling and we were looked after by a fabulous crew, Portia, Chris and Scot (the captain). Whilst snorkelling Chris gave a tour of the reef pointing out and explaining what we were looking at as well as answering our many questions. Thank you Ocean Free for fulfilling a dream.
